Gord Gallant (born October 27, 1950 in Shediac, New Brunswick) is a retired professional ice hockey player who played 273 games in the World Hockey Association. He played for the Quebec Nordiques, Minnesota Fighting Saints, and Birmingham Bulls. He is best known for his time playing for the Fighting Saints. He became popular with fans because of his short fuse on the ice and his over the top charisma. He lost his spot on the team when during the 1974-75 playoffs Fighting Saints coach Harry Neale set a curfew for his players the night before a game. Gallant was out at the bar and came back 45 minutes to and hour and a half past curfew and was told Neale had call the room and he knew Gallant had broken curfew. Gallant went to Neale's room and sucker-punched Neale then went about destroying the room, claims Neale. Gallant was gone the very next day, team President Wayne Belisle reasoned, "i don't any one individual can put himself in front of the coach, the team or the franchise."
